A piece of steel from the North Tower of the World Trade Center arrived in Pawling on July 27, 2011
A six and one half ton piece of steel from the North Tower of the WTC 911 arrived in Pawling on July 27, 2011 around 10:30 AM. An escorted flatbed (donated by Pawling business man Steve Parrino who owns Parrino Garden Center) transported the soon to be memorial monument, from JFK Airport to Pawling. PFD Chief Dave Denzel, Asst. Chief Everett White, Commissioner's Ron Gallagher & Jim McCarthy participated in escorting the mass to the Putnam/Dutchess Counties' line where they were joined by Pawling Mayor Robert Liffland, Town Supervisor Dave Kelly, along with fire apparatus, to complete the trip to its' final destination at Pawling Station 1. The escort also included participation by members of the Dutchess County Sheriff's Office and NYS Trooper's. The department plans a Memorial Service on the Sept. 11, 2011 which will be open to the public.
