Dutchess County Fire Police
Virtually all fire departments were involved on the east coast were involved with responses to the hurricane Sandy. Pawling, located in the south east corner of Dutchess County responded to a house fire reportedly caused by an incorrect generator hookup. Fire police shut down Hurds Corners Road (AKA Old Route 22) to accommodate responding mutual aid apparatus and assisted with scene support.

Members of the Dutchess County Fire Police Response Team were invited the Putnam Team's first meeting following the disastrous fire at Bob's Self Storage. At the meeting they critiqued their respective team's performance when they operated under mutual aid for over 8 hours re-routing traffic due to the closure of Route 22 at Rt. 312 in Brewster.

The Dutchess County Fire Police Response team controlled traffic in Pleasant Valley on North Avenue and Salt Point Turnpike for the their bike-a-thon.
The Pawling Fire Department had a perfect summer day to host of the 2010 Dutchess County Annual Volunteer Firemanís Association Convention Parade. The Pawling fire police, the Dutchess County Fire Police Response Team and the Patterson FD fire police were out in force to join local law enforcement agencies in handling traffic and the influx of visitors. An overflow crowd of no less than thirty fire departments, bands, participating organizations, and hundreds of enthusiastic onlookers, virtually shut down the Village of Pawling for several hours.
