PNWFPA Member Joe Piazzi died in the line of duty Wednesday, May 16th, 2007, the day after this photo was taken of him attending our Annual Meeting. He had spent the day responding to storm-related calls throughout his village, and was about to head out on another one when he had a heart attack. Joe served as fire chief from 1983 to 1985 and was a deputy chief and captain of Briarcliff Manor’s Hook & Ladder Company’s fire police at the time of his death. Joe’s funeral services were well attended by hundreds of area fire fighters. His casket, adorned with flowers and purple bunting, was carried on an antique fire engine in a mile long funeral procession.
