Final Tribute to Joe Piazzi

PNWFPA Member, Deputy Chief, Fire Police Captain, Joe Piazzi suffered a Line-Of-Duty-Death on May 16th, 2007 after answering a series of storm related calls in Briarcliff Manor.

Joe was born on August 5,1930, graduated from A.B Davis High School, served in the Naval Reserves, wed Catherine (Lombardo) May 11, 1968, and retired from Consolidated Edison. Piazzi was a member of the Mount Vernon Volunteer Fire Department for 23 years. He joined the Briarcliff Manor Hook & Ladder Company in 1971 working his way through the ranks to Chief of the Department in 1983 and served until 1985. He was a member and Past Director of the Westchester County Association of Fire Chiefs and member of the Westchester County Parade Judges Association.

Memorial services, attended by hundreds of area fire and police agencies, were held at the Waterbury & Kelly Funeral Home and St. Theresa’s Church with the coffin transported in the procession aboard an antique engine. Interment was at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Hawthorn, NY.
