The 2017 Seminar opened with President Marilyn Miller welcoming a near capacity crowd to the Seminar. First Sargent William Meyer welcomed everyone, and led the assembly in the Pledge of Allegiance. Also addressing the attendees were Assistant Commissioner Ken Clair, who also pointed out the exits, and County Executive MaryEllen Odell. The invocation was offered by chaplain Lou Mettey.
Presenters the first evening were from Airstar America, the inventor and world leader in balloon lighting technology. The manufacturer was represented by John Roussos from Des Plaines, IL and the local sales Rep. was Michael Lesko from Traffic Lane Closures, LLC in Carmel, NY. There were a number of new members who recieved their membership cards this evening. As always, the break snacks were well received. Special memtion was made of Bill Keating's imminent retirement after many years of faithful service to the people of Putnam County. As always, the 50 / 50 raffle was a great success, with a couple of members happy they attended the meeeting.

Thursday, the 2nd half of our annual Seminar was opened by Undersheriff Paul Boscia, a few words from Putnam County District Attorney Robert Tendy & a Legislative update by Assemblyman Kevin Byrne. The first speaker was Ira Promisel on "What is the future of Traffic Incident Management (TIM) in a world of alternative fuel, automated and connected vehicles"
The second speaker was Rich Pepe on "Pre Planning for Traffic Incident Management & TIM for Planned Special Events" As usual, a break gave all members an opportunity to snack and enjoy some informal conversation. Several new members received their membership cards this evening. The evening ended with a drawing. |
