John J. Bodor Sheriff's Fire Police Seminar Part I 04/22/26 |
As flags waved outside in the warm spring breezes, PNWFPA members gathered for the annual seminar. The evening opened with introductory remarks by PNWFPA Past President Marilyn Miller. She was followed by Putnam County Sheriff Brian M. Hess, who welcomed everyone, and expressed his appreciation for all the members accomplish. Following the Pledge of Allegiance, PNWFPA Chaplain Kevin Neary of Mahopac Falls F.D. offered a prayer. PNWFPA President Todd Carter then opened the first session by introducing the opening speaker of the evening, a Deputy Sheriff, with the topic of determining a level of ability to safely drive. The break was, as always, welcome, and many healthy snacks were consumed. During the second half, John Lembke, a Deputy Fire Coordinator with the Westchester County Dept. of Emergency Services spoke on Staging Area Operations. As always, the 50 / 50 raffle was a great success, with a couple of members happy they attended the meeting. New members were welcomed, and the evening was closed with a blessing by PNWFPA Chaplain Louis Mettey of the Continental Village F.D. |

John J. Bodor Sheriff's Fire Police Seminar Part II 04/29/26 |
The second half of the 2026 John J. Bodor Sheriff's Seminar opened at 7:00 PM on April 29. The Seminar was opened with a welcome by Putnam County Executive Kevin Byrne, who thanked the members for their dedication to keeping the county and surrounding areas safe. The Pledge of Allegiance followed. The invocation was offered by PNWFPA Chaplain Louis Metty of Continental Village F.D. The first series of speakers for the evening was from ConEd, speaking on Natural Gas Hazard Awareness. This was followed by a ConEd presentation on Electrical Awareness. In a break from the usual break, PNWFPA provided a large cake celebrating the 250th anniversary of the establishment of the USA. As always, the break gave all members an opportunity to snack and enjoy some informal conversation. At the end of the break, the second half of the evening started with a presentation by Sgt. Howard Dorner and Sean Hardy of the NY State Police, speaking on Fire Department Responsibilities at Fatal Collision Scenes. The evening ended with a drawing, and a blessing by PNWFPA Chaplain Louis Metty. This series of photos includes a few of the many Fire Police vehicles present at the Seminar.
